Thoughts I Have When A Book Character Dies

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the first edition of this newly formed feature: Off Tangent Thoughts where I’ll let present before you a list of my crazy, fanatic thoughts on bookish events and situations because apparently you find them hilarious. My original post that sparked this idea was Thoughts I Have While Reading A Slow-Burn Romance and my notifications absolutely blew up after that.

Hence this series.

Have fun taking a peek inside my psychotic fangirl mind!

  • THOUGHTS I HAVE WHEN A CHARACTER DIES

—> pfft they’re just joking, he’s gonna come back to life

—> CONCEAL DON’T FEEL

—> *grabs tissues*

—> BUT S/HE’S MY FAVOURITE!

—> nope, that character totally did not die. I shall close this book and when I open it s/he better be alive.

—> wHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?

—> no nothing happened mom, my soul just got ripped in half

—> *rocks herself while sobbing*

—> *stares at the words for hours hoping that they magically change*

—> I WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS!

—> HeRe yOU CAN KILL THE VILLIAN BUT THIS PRECIOUS BEAN IS UNDER MY PROTECTION!

—> *hatches plans to stab the author*

—> *tortures herself by reading the death scene over and over again*

—> I mean what is my life now? What do I even do?

—> Hello? Yeah I’m applying to learn the dark art of necromancy

—> my entire life is a lie

—> wHAT DO YOU MEAN S/HE LEFT A LETTER FOR THEIR LOVED ONES?!?!

—> *throws the book at a wall*

—> oh no, it’s happening all over again

—> this world is a cold, dead place

—> ARE YOU SURE THEY’RE NOT GONNA COME BACK TO LIFE??

—> but s/he was just a child???? HOW CRUEL-HEARTED IS THE WRITER?

—> no no, these aren’t tears, they’re just- just- I DON’T KNOW BUT I’M NOT CRYING BECAUSE THERE’S NOTHING TO CRY ABOUT, S/HE IS NOT DEAD!!!

—> yOU WERE THE ONLY REASON I WAS READING THIS BOOK!

—> wHat dO YoU MEaN yoU DIdn’T CRY ovER TheIR DEATH?

—> you’re not even a human, just a stone

—> *searches fan-fictions where the character is not dead*

—> NO I’M STILL NOT OVER THEIR DEATH AND NEVER WILL BE

—> so you’re saying they died in vain? Yeah let me just go stab myself

—> hello yes, I understand you don’t deal in necromancy but can you take my soul and just bring this character back to life?

—> shut up, can’t you see I’m mourning? Homework can wait

—> DON’T YOU DARE SAY S/HE WASN’T REAL

—> DON’T DISRESPECT THE DEAD!

—> for the last time, I am not crazy!

Paying due respect to all the characters who died in front of my eyes(aka while I was reading) and took a part of my soul with them.

  1. OMG, so relatable! Loved the post ❤
BTW, you should make a series out of things like this aka my reaction when my OTP kiss for the first time, etc.
OH, wait, I'm gonna go do it, bye!
But before I go, I loved this post!

  2. Okay I love this new feature already! You’ve perfectly summed up my thoughts every time one of my favorite characters dies! Sometimes I’m even so upset that I say “screw spoilers” and turn to Google to see if they’ll come back to life. 😭 I’m so glad I found your blog through Twitter — I can’t wait to see more of these posts, haha!

  3. Oh my god this post both cracked me up and hurt my soul. And AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA “no nothing happened mom, my soul just got ripped in half” is such a mood. I was bawling over a book the other day and my dad was so concerned.

  4. To be honest, I never really freak out when a book character dies? I guess I never get emotionally attached enough, but never say never. Maybe 2019 will be the year. I did almost cry after Infinity War though, so that counts I suppose.
