I’m sure if you scroll down for long enough on my blog you’ll find that I’ve conducted all sorts of interviews and given a couple to but I’ve never seen something like The Book Interview Tag and I’m so excited to answer these questions!
Thank you so much to my lovely friend Clo @ Cuppa Clo who tagged me to do The Book Interview Tag. Her blog is amazing and fun and she had adorable graphics of teacups so go and check them out!
THE BOOK INTERVIEW TAG
Name/Blog Name
My name is Charvi and my blog is Not Just Fiction 🙂 My full name is Charvi Koul but thanks to the abundance of ‘call’ puns, I don’t use it often online.
Age
I’m 18, a recently initiated adult but I will be turning 19 in April 🙂
Favourite Genre
Hmm… I would have to say that it’s currently tied between Contemporary and Thriller. The thing is, my favourite genre keeps changing from time to time. I took a very long break from thrillers because I used to read only adventure and thriller books as a kid but recently I’ve been drawn to them again!
Favourite Male Author
Probably Rick Riordan. Not only was Percy Jackson a huge chunk of my preteen and teen years, but it was also the start of my years of getting involved in fanfics and fandoms. The first book of the series that made me write fanfics(39 Clues) was written by him.
Favourite Female Author
This is so hard! I absolutely refuse to answer it because I’ve read so many brilliant female authors, especially POC women writers and I refuse to try and list them because I will most definitely miss someone out.
Forever Favourite(s)
I don’t think my love for Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, There’s Something About Sweetie, Carry On and A Spark of White Fire is ever going to extinguish. So yeah, those are my forever favourites!
What Was Your First Book Of 2020? How Did You Like It?
I was so eager to read Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell and my expectations were sky high but I was mostly disappointed. I didn’t like the way it was written, it just seemed to be going a bit off course and that ending was absolutely disastrous. Also, the loopholes really got me on an edge.
What Was Your Last Book Of 2019? How Did You Like It?
Lock Every Door was such a great book to end the year on! It was gripping, fast-paced and absolutely exhilarating. It gave me an adrenaline rush like no other book had and the plot itself was simply marvellous. I would definitely recommend you to read it at night, in one sitting.
What Do You Look For In A Book/What Makes It Really Stand Out For You?
There’s no one thing really. I just want a book to be diverse in every sense possible and hook me in. I can’t really specify or pin-point one particular trait because it would be more like a list.
Do You Collect Any Particular Sets/Editions Of Books?
No, I don’t. I’m a broke-ass struggling student so buying books entails scrutinizing my TBR, let alone collecting expensive sets or editions. I did end up having double copies for Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and With Love, From Twinkle. The former because I won it in a giveaway and for the latter, a friend shipped a signed edition for me!
Favourite Place To Read
I mean I can read anywhere but my bed is the comfiest place in the world 🙂
Do You Prefer eBooks, Audiobooks Or Physical Books? Hardbacks Or Paperbacks?
I prefer paperbacks so that I can smell them and I don’t have to fret about the dust jackets. They’re also usually cheaper than the hardcovers. But I do love that ebooks have no weight and are easier to read at night or in the dark.
Do You Keep Books You Didn’t Like, Or Get Rid Of Them?
I get rid of them through book unhauls or donations and if neither works out I sell them away as ‘waste paper’. Sort of for recycling. There’s an Indian term for this but I have no idea what the rest of the world calls it. We basically give away our newspapers to a guy for him to recycle and the guy in turns pays us money in terms of the weight and he accepts cardboard and books as well.
Which Literary Character Best Defines You/Do You Best Relate To?
SO MANY! But one of the most common ones and also the one that is currently coming to mind is Cath from Fangirl. I’m a bundle of anxiousness like her and also love books and writing fanfictions. Also, humans suck and my bed rocks.

Are you a huge fan of tags or not really?
Let me know which of my answers you related to! Did you discover something about me which you hadn’t known before?
This is such a fun tag! 🙂 I liked your answers and I can totally relate to not picking a favorite author, because there are just so many great ones!

Ohh… I loved reading your answers.
I love that you said Thriller was one of your favourite genres because I don’t hear that too often and it is a genre I rarely read. I never have too much of an urge to pick it up but it has a lot of cool aspects so I don’t know why.
I definitely need to read some Rick Riordan at some point because I hear so much and I love mythology so I don’t know why I haven’t. I’m so happy his books mean so much to you.
I agree Wayward Son was disappointing, the characters didn’t really get too much emotional development and the plot was just a bit… bad, for lack of a better word. I’m happy some people enjoyed it though and I didn’t hate it, knowing the characters already and the easy writing helped.
‘humans suck and my bed rocks’– you took the words out of my mouth!! haha!!
Thank you for tagging me and wonderful post!! ❤

Thanks, Sophie ❤
Oh yes, thrillers and I have a long and complicated relationship which is currently going well 😉
Omg omg you definitely need to read Rick Riordan, your mind will be BLOWN. Yeah, all the characters seemed eh? I hate how Penelope's development after the breakup was given a few pages and then magically she is fine again…
Hehe, isn't that a truth about us booklovers 🙂 Can't wait to see your answers!!
