THE WORLD HAS CHANGED.
SCIENTISTS WARNED IT WOULD HAPPEN.
What they didn’t warn us about was young teenage assassins powered with a special formula would be wrecking havoc all over.
Intrigued yet?
ISAN is a thrilling novel fused with the dynamics of dystopian and sci-fi genres and a fresh new mystery to follow throughout! I’m really glad to be part of a book tour for this wonderfully unique book by Mary Ting, hosted by Xpresso Book Tours.
Let’s dive right into it!
OFFICIAL GOODREADS SUMARY”
Meteors devastated the Earth. World Governments developed plans to help surviving citizens. The United States disbanded and salvageable land was divided into four quadrants—North, South, East, and West—governed by The Remnant Council.
Struggling to survive, seventeen-year-old Ava ends up in juvenile detention, until she is selected for a new life—with a catch. She must be injected with an experimental serum. The results will be life changing. The serum will make her better. To receive the serum Ava agrees to join a program controlled by ISAN, the International Sensory Assassin Network.
While on a mission, she is abducted by a rebel group led by Rhett and told that not only does she have a history with him, but her entire past is a lie perpetuated by ISAN to ensure her compliance. Unsure of who to trust, Ava must decide if her strangely familiar and handsome captor is her enemy or her savior—and time is running out.
ISAN has a pretty intriguing and unique plot that drives the story forward. I absolutely loved all the female characters, especially Ava’s team members!
Justine was fiery and sassy though Ava would probably disagree and say downright cold hearted and emotionless scowling potato. Brooke was sweet and nice and yet at the same time she had an aura of mystery surrounding her which made me want to know her even more! I wish we could have dived into her character more. Then comes Tamara, the latest edition to their team- chirpy and innocent but deadly when she wants to be. Tamara resonated with me much more than the others even though we’re probably polar opposites!
And then there is Ava herself who is clever, cunning and strong. She knows what she’s capable of and has a kind, sacrificing heart along with a knack for leadership. She’s truly an interesting character to follow as we move about in the story and witness everything she goes through and yet remains unchanged at the core.
The author’s writing style flowed out smoothly and painted vivid images for my mind although it turned out to be a little too descriptive at times.
All in all this was a good read though I’m not sure whether I’m compelled to follow into the sequel as of yet.
