Interview With Author Sandhya Menon

Hello everyone!

It’s been a long time since I last held an author interview, I think that was probably the beginning of 2018? So basically it’s been too long and now here I am with an interesting interview with one of my favourite YA authors. If you follow me on any social media site you will know that I am an enormous fan of Sandhya Menon and keep yelling at people to go read her books. I’ve especially been fawning over her latest book, There’s Something About Sweetie which I shall forever treasure and hold close to my heart.

So let’s welcome the queen of desi YA books, Sandhya Menon herself!

Thoughts I Have While Writing Book Reviews

I had a wonderful time reading all your lovely posts for this prompt which I have linked down below 🙂

Can you believe Off Tangent Thoughts has been running since two weeks now?

I still feels so surreal to me, especially the fact that all of you have greeted it with so much of love and enthusiasm. I had a great time reading and laughing at all your different posts and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the day I could put up my second prompt post. And today is the day! Super pumped up for this one 🙂

Descendant of the Crane: The Masterpiece That Stole My Soul

What do you write about a book that’s already been raved about by every single person you know and which has rendered you absolutely speechless?

I’ve been putting off this review since so long because I’m positive that I’m just going to end up with garbled word vomit including things like ‘I’M DEAD’, ‘ANOTHER PLOT TWIST?!’, ‘YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THIS BOOK’. Yes, it’s every bit of a masterpiece that it claims to be. I literally love each and every word in this book and stayed up till 2am screaming and gasping and crying at this book.

In the end I’m going with a bullet point review because lists are what I go to when I have absolutely no idea what to do. I still have a very strong urge to abandon this post and just write a review consisting of ‘I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH, JUST GO READ IT‘.

Alright but first things first I need to kneel down and thank the wonderful Joan He for sending me an ARC of this book, she’s my queen now. This was of course in exchange for an honest review, in no way has it affected my thoughts and opinions. Okay, now onto the review!

Why Book Blurbs are Important

You know those tiny paragraphs that used to be printed at the back of any book you were holding to give you an overview of what it is about so that you don’t stumble into a totally alien universe uninformed?

Those are called book blurbs and they’re very important.

Before we dive into exactly why those small little bunch of words even matter can I please rant how I’m pissed the hell off with the fact that people seem to be replacing book blurbs with praise and words from other authors like WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!

No, I don’t want to hear what John Green or The Times has to say about this piece of art, you can easily include that inside the book in the first few pages before the actual story that almost nobody reads! I WANT MY BLURBS BACK.
