Are ARCs Overrated?

Earlier you would find booknerds with broken backs and an unending stack of their to-be-read books that they carry with them, which would ultimately result in their death. As if that wasn’t enough there is an added weight of ARCs that we run after like crazy and then promptly stash on our TBR piles. Am […]

Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag

You know what we booknerds love? Freaking out. The main characters always put themselves in danger, the books we lend come back damaged, our favourite characters always die, WE CANNOT READ ALL THE BOOKS IN THE WORLD – SO MANY REASONS TO FREAK OUT!!! So naturally there is a tag for this. What are we […]

FIFA World Cup Book Tag

Let me start by putting this out there- I’m not a huge fan of watching sports. Be it cricket, football, badminton or whatever else, I never really watch sports-persons play, eyes glued to the television. That’s just not me. The only time I avidly watched a sport event was when India was playing for the […]

April Wrap Up

April was crazy jam-packed with lots of interesting stuff. It was my birthday month so there were many new books, bookmarks, blog tours and Dewey’s 24hr Readathon! So let’s not waste any time and get straight to it!

I read a total of 7 books this month, which accounts for a humongous amount keeping in mind all the other things that had been going on. Here are some of my favourites!

This was an amazing book and I was literally drunk on this one, I just couldn’t put it down! This is a must read for everyone, especially all the artists out there

I’ve been drooling over this book ever since I read it! You can find my full review here

I have no words for this book, it simply left me numb. Such a magical and powerful book, I finished it in mere hours and am already halfway through it’s sequel. This is one series that is definitely worth all the hype!

On my birthday I received some really gorgeous gifts including-

  • a journal that is so aesthetically pretty that it might blind your eyes woow
  • accompanied by cute bookmarks that seem to be telling me to stop reading like a lunatic but ahahahaha that’s never going to happen
  • THE CUTEST POCKET SIZED EDITION OF THE ALCHEMIST BY PAULO COEHLO WHICH IS NO BIGGER THAN MY HAND. DO YOU SEE THE KIND OF POWER I HAVE? I CAN CARRY IT EVERYWHERE
  • The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins which I have a long history with but have basically never read. I will not let it out of my sight this time!
  • And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie that my mom has repeatedly been telling me to read and now I finally own it!

I also received a giveaway copy of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda movie tie in edition and eeep it looks gorgeous next to my original Simon version! Do I use ‘gorgeous’ too much? I can’t help it, it’s a gorgeous word.

The only downside of all this is the fact that I’m running out of space in my makeshift bookshelf which is basically two shelves in my study table. Even Hercules can’t fit one more book in there!

Looks like I need to find a new home for my babies…

Not to mention I am expecting an April book box from Booklings Crate anyday now which means even less shelf space.

But does that stop me from dreaming about getting my hands on the upcoming releases?

NOPE!

Click on this picture to go check it out on Goodreads if you haven’t heard of it before because this is a MUST READ! I mean do you not see the title? Do you not see that this screams fangirl? It’s releasing on May 1st, which is technically today but hushh let’s pretend that I didn’t mess up with this post.

Is there anybody who isn’t excited for this one? You sure are living under a rock if you don’t know about this beauty! Releasing May 22 which seems so far away πŸ˜₯

I’m screaming because I hadn’t realised this was releasing in May- SO CLOSE. 29 May, be on the look out!

Me: So many shiny books to look forward to!

My pocket: I’M EMPTY ALREADY

On to the topic of Dewey’s 24 hour readathon, I wasn’t able to get in as much reading as last time due to unexpected circumstances. I was really grumpy for a while because I had been waiting for this day since a long time but then I realized what really mattered were the fun interactions with all the participants and the fact that despite my hectic schedule, I carved out time for myself to read. And I got hooked onto A Court of Thorns and Roses series so it’s a win-win!

Also, some of you might also have noticed that I was posting much more vigorously this month as I had been trying out a new format. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been working out and has left me all the more stressed. I’ll be going back to one post per week with the occasional tags and reviews popping up whenever I feel like it.

I just don’t want blogging to become another chore or end up going on a hiatus, I love this book blogging community! Lately I haven’t found the time to go blog hopping at all and I have plenty of blog posts opened in google, waiting for me to get to them. Does Google have a limit on the number of tabs you can keep open? I might end up finding out this way…

So yeah, hopefully this will give me more time to visit more lovely blogs πŸ˜€

Emphasis on hopefully because school has been a struggle lately.

That’s a wrap! How was this month for you guys? Super productive? Boring? Crazy fun? Tell me all about it! And what book release are you looking forward to the most for this month? Don’t forget to comment below πŸ™‚

Official Goodreads Summary:

Opal has been planning to go to Chicago and join the Midwest’s superhero team, the Sentinels, since she was a little kid. That dream took on a more urgent tone when her superpowered dad was unjustly arrested for protecting a neighbor from an abusive situation. Now, she wants to be a superhero not only to protect people, but to get a platform to tell the world about the injustices of the Altered Persons Bureau, the government agency for everything relating to superpowers.

But just after Opal’s high school graduation, a supervillain with a jet and unclear motives attacks the downtown home of the Sentinels, and when Opal arrives, she finds a family on the brink of breaking apart. She meets a boy who’s been developing secret (and illegal) brain-altering nanites right under the Sentinel’s noses, another teenage superhero-hopeful who looks suspiciously like a long-dead supervillain, and the completely un-superpowered daughter of the Sentinels’ leader. Can four teens on the fringes of the superhero world handle the corruption, danger, and family secrets they’ve unearthed?Β

Bookish Academy Awards Tag

A long time ago back when J.K Rowling had started writing Harry Potter, Sahi @My World of Books had tagged me for the Bookish Academy Awards Tag and look who’s finally getting to it!

This tag was originally created by BookadoodlesΒ so go check out her video for more information! The basic rundown is that there are various categories like in the Oscar awards only that the awards will be given away to books and bookish characters! Exciting, right?

But also insanely frustrating….

This tag drove me nuts because it’s so difficult to chose between books! You always forget about some book or the other and feel guilty about leaving them out. So I tried to include only those books which I’ve read in the past year. Tried.
