March Wrap-Up and Hiatus Announcement

Hello everyone!

Bear with me because this post is going to be a bit different. I honestly don’t know how the formatting will be because I’ve just been procrastinating on this for the longest time and I really want to put this post out there without the pressure of making everything aesthetic and well-formatted so here we are.

March was… wow. An absolute rollercoaster for sure!

Books I Read

This was unfortunately one of my most disappointing reads. I simply cannot sum up my emotions in two lines so you can read my Goodreads review to know my thoughts on it. 2.5/5 stars

What a hidden gem! This was an amazingly written debut with such an interesting mystery and a very compelling cast of characters. At its heart, this book is about Kolkatta and I’m honestly so glad I decided to pick this book up in the first place. 5/5 stars

I did enjoy this book, especially the family dynamics and the mental health representation. But the romance wasn’t it for me and overall the book didn’t have the same charm as Happily Ever Afters. 3.5/5 stars

Loved the concept of this book! The characters, plot, relationships, themes tackled: everything was absolutely wonderful and wholesome. 4/5 stars

Every time I pick up these psychological thrillers I’m just setting myself up for disappointment. Most of it was predictable, the writing was boring and cliched and I’m just done with the repetitiveness of this genre. 3/5 stars

I think I liked the book? My feelings are just all over the place. Did I predict the killer yes? Were there still some decent plot twists? Also yes. However, there were some things I was really uncomfortable with and honestly, this book needs to come with trigger warnings plastered on the first page because it gets wayyy darker than you would expect. 3.5/5 stars

This was such a short, adorable and well-written book! I’m a sucker for the epistolary or text-based format and it worked really well here. 4.5/5 stars

Books I Hauled

Like I said, I honestly have no energy for this post so I’m just going to list the books down here.

A Death in Shonnagachi by Rijula Das

Daura by Anukriti Upadhyay

The World That Belongs To Us edited by Aditi Angiras and Akhil Katyal

Cat People edited by Devapriya Roy

Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh Khan by Sharayana Bhattacharya

Calling A Wolf A Wolf by Kaveh Akbar

Everything I Binge-Watched

I really enjoyed this season but I just wish we had some more banging makeup looks. But yeah I’m really invested in some of the newer characters or rather characters who got a bigger role this season.

Watched this with my mom just for fun. It’s like a decent show to watch if you’re bored or need something in the background maybe.

This was such a highly anticipated stand-up comedy that my friend and I wanted to watch. Ultimately it was funny but a bit of a letdown :/

Life Updates

So much happened the last month but I honestly don’t have the energy to write about it and just gush over everything like I had originally planned to. Amongst a lot of things, my campus reopened and I’ve been having offline classes and hybrid ones as well. I dyed my hair purple and blue and I’m so in love with it. Oh, and I got covid for the first time. It wasn’t very severe and I’m completely fine now even though it was a very anxious week of being sick. But the best thing that happened was I went to a literary fest for three days with my blogging sisters Shruti and Nandini and it will forever be some of the best memories I’ve had ❤

Literally half of this post would have been gushing about that trip if I weren’t so burntout.

So yes, coming to the main thing here. I’ve realised that I’ve been getting burnt out from writing blog posts. I won’t drag this out a lot but I just need a break. I keep stressing over my blog schedule, postponing writing posts while trying to live my best life now that things have finally shifted offline for me. I think the whole pandemic made blogging easier for me since I just had so much more time and energy but I can’t handle it right now.

So I’m taking a break even though I have many posts that I’m excited to write, I just don’t have the energy to write. I’m not even going to proofread this post, I just want to put it out there and officially take the break that I need. How long will I be gone? I don’t know. Definitely until mid May or something but only time will tell.

Thank you so much for supporting my blog and I hope you’ll all still be here when I’m back 🙂
