My 5 Star Predictions for 2021 aka Placing High Expectations on Hyped Books

I’ve been placing too many expectations on myself lately to read all the possible books so today I decided to put the expectations on books 🙂

I keep seeing everyone do 5 star predictions for their books which is so exciting like hello predicting the future? Count me in, I would like to predict something covid free haha. Okay on second thoughts, let’s not even go there, I’m too terrified.

Anyway, I keep missing on this trend but this time I’ve come prepared with a list of books that every freaking one of you have hyped up for me. These are books that I’m a 100% going to read next year, no excuses and hopefully they’ll all be 5 star reads for me!

My 5 Star Predictions for 2021 aka Placing High Expectations on Hyped Books

The Wicker King by K. Ancrum

I know Cait from Paperfury has been hyping this book since such a long time and I honestly fell in love with this book when I first heard of it. I mean mental health rep set in a fantasy with queer characters? Exactly my cup of tea.

We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal

Oh my god, I’ve been waiting for this book for what seems like a freaking decade. I’m a sucker for We Hunt the Flame okay and the way that book ended? I need this one so bad!!! I love Hafsah’s writing and the plot and the characters, I really don’t think this book will fail me, in fact it might just destroy me so let’s see…

The Reckless Afterlife of Harriet Stoker by Lauren James

I know for a fact that this book is going to blow my mind. I don’t know how and I don’t know when but I’m sure my jaw will hit the floor at some point thanks to this book. Lauren James has never disappointed me , seriously just check out my post 5 Reasons to Read The Quiet at the End of the World to see how her last book floored me. Anyway, this one is about having powers in the afterlife and making friends so maybe found family? Hell yes!

Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman

Hello, big Akemi fan here! I’ve been meaning to read Starfish for ages now because I love Akemi’s writing so I’m sure I’ll love this one as well. I just haven’t gotten around to Starfish yet but 2021 will be the year!

The Infinity Court by Akemi Dawn Bowman

AHHHH I AM HYPERVENTILATING!!! I have a beautiful, beautiful early copy of The Infinity Courts and I plan on this one being my first read of the year. Every year I choose a book I know I’ll love and start my reading year with it. It’s about the afterlife being controlled by a virtual assistant who makes every dead human a slave and is trying to exterminate all humans on earth. How could you not have this book on your TBR?

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Everybody and their mother has read this book and given me absolutely glowing reviews. In fact, it’s almost a crime to not read this book so I better get onto it before someone puts me in book jail… I mean we have a badass queer character and a world of stardom so I really don’t think this can go bad for me.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

If you’ve been around my blog for a while you might notice that I absolutely stan Matt Haig. His writing gives me life and hope and also tears. He’s just an auto-buy author for me so I honestly cannot wait to read his latest book which is about a library which has books about your current life, your past life and what your life could be and our mc is faced with the choice of opening one of these books and finding herself. Gah, this is gonna be such a beautiful read, I already know it 🙂

Circe by Madeline Miller

Again, this is such a hyped book and absolutely everyone I know has read and loved it. Plus I get recommended this book a lot because I freaking love Greek mythology. Seriously, I’ve had huge obsession phases where I did my best to learn Ancient Greek… yeah that was a huge fail. Anyway, we also have a strong female character and I’m absolutely here for it! Fingers crossed this will be a 5 stars read for me.

The Ones We’re Meant To Find by Joan He

Again, I’m literally bouncing on my chair even thinking about this one. Descendant of the Crane destroyed me in the past and I know anything that Joan writes, I will love. This book has sci-fi/mystery/thriller vibes and is pitched as We Were Liars meets The Black Mirror?? HELL YES!

Crier’s War by Nina Varela

You see how many hyped books this list has? Crier’s War is the sapphic fantasy book which everyone goes crazy about and I honestly am so ready to read and fall in love with Nina Varela’s world. I mean I’ve only heard good things about this duology so how could it not be a 5 star read?
