The Finished Books Tag

Heya everyone!

Lately I’ve been thinking about the kind of content I produce on my blog and debating on making some changes. For me blogging is all about having fun. It’s a hobby, not a way of earning money so I keep focusing on doing things I love.

And lately I haven’t been feeling like doing tags. In general I feel like a lot of them have questions that I’ve answered over the past posts and I just don’t care for them anymore. But that said, there are always some exceptions. From now on, I’ve decided that there will be limited tags on my blog and I’ll only choose those that spark my interest and excitement.

Right, now that it’s out of the way, let’s get on to today’s tag which explores my reading and reviewing habits. I was tagged by my wonderful friend Nandini @Novels and Nebulas. Whoops, almost typed her old domain name there. But now she has a new and fantastic space themed blog that you should definitely go follow! This tag was created by the channel owner of Headless Books, but the video is not up anymore, unfortunately.  Nevertheless, you should go check out other videos on her channel 🙂

FINISHED BOOKS TAG

READING HABITS

1. Do you keep a list of the books you have read?

Yeah, I keep track in Goodreads! I’ve tried keeping tracks in a planner or spreadsheet but it gets too hectic and I feel like Goodreads is more than enough. I do keep track of my reading challenges in a separate spreadsheet though.

2. If you record statistics, what statistics do you record?

I do record statistics, again through my spreadsheet. I’m not super regular but I keep track of the number of books I read every month, their genres  and the representations as well as the age groups they fall into. Honestly, my spreadsheet is a bit of a mess and I plan on fixing it soon or maybe I’ll let it carry over and have a fresh start next year. Who knows.

3. How do you pick your next book?

I have honestly no idea. I’m a mood-reader through and through. I keep a mental note of the books I absolutely have to read for a specific month like club book of the months and ARCs but other than that my process is absolute chaos. I’ll pick up books on a whim or whatever lays in front of me. Sometimes I’ll pick up a book that’s not even on my TBR. And all this while I do my best not to stray from my yearly reading challenges…

REVIEW HABITS

1. What does your rating system look like?

It’s just your normal rating system. At one point I did think of having a unique system that would cater more to my tastes but in the end I would have to reduce those ratings to stars for the sake of Goodreads and Netgalley which would prove it absolutely redundant. So why bother? Of course I occasionally go crazy trying to find a substitute for 3.25 or 3.75 stars but what’s another added life stress?

2. Do you review books?

Yeah, if I wouldn’t then well why would I be a book blogger? But I don’t review books on my blog that often, mostly on Goodreads. Sometimes they’re short and critical other times they’re long, rambly and an emotional mess. I just stay honest to who I am and if I don’t feel like it , sometimes I don’t review a book and just give it a rating.+

3. Do you have any other rituals after finishing a book?

Not particularly?

Unless staring at the ceiling while I try to sort my thoughts counts.

Are you fond of doing tags and awards on your blog?

What are your favourite kind of posts to read and/or write on blogs?

I’m curious, how many of you actually manage to make money through book blogging?
