5 Books I Bought But Haven’t Read Yet

All those unread books on my shelf are staring at me as I write this post. The books that I won in giveaways or have been gifted to me can still be justified to remain unread. Maybe I don’t like their genre or maybe I participated in that giveaway without thinking. Okay yeah, even those sound week to me.

But the books I did buy myself with great interest and intent to read them- I really have no excuse to not read them, do I?

8 Books I Bought But Haven’t Read Yet

1. Jurassic Park

So I bought Jurassic Park book at a secondhand book fair because I wanted to read the book and see how different or better it is from the movies? But I don’t know why I have no motivation to pick it up at this point. I think my mom got into my head by saying why would you read a book after you watch its adaptation? BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE BETTER. Oof, send some motivation my way, you all!

2. The Book Thief

The Book Thief has been lying in my bookshelf for the longest time. It went something like this: I hear it’s hyped, everyone recommends it to me, I buy it and then I get intimidated by how thick it is. Literally the only reason I’m not reading it is because it’s so thick and I’m afraid I won’t like it as much as everyone else. But I did recently read another book by Markus Zusak and I really liked his writing style which is slowly giving me the courage to pick this book up.

3. Keepers of the Kalachakra

I’ve read every other book that Ashwin Sanghi has written and I’m a huge fan. I bought Keepers of Kalachakra as soon as it came out but I couldn’t pick it up then because I knew that Ashwin Sanghi’s books need a lot of mental activity and time. Like, it’s not an easy read but it’s absolutely worth the time and money you invest in it. So yeah… I ended up never getting that sort of time. But now that I’m under quarantine, I’m planning on picking it up very soon.

4. Mirage

I’ve got a gorgeous copy of Mirage in a book box and I was so excited and even picked it up once. But I couldn’t get into it at that moment and it’s been gathering dust ever since. I even proposed it multiple times for the Stars and Sorcery BOTM, hoping that a group read would really drive me to read it. But that didn’t happen and I found out it’s part of a trilogy and the second book isn’t even out yet? That does not sit well with me because I hate catching up with series.

5. Spin the Dawn

I was actually ready to pick Spin the Dawn up a couple months ago but then I found out that it’s part of a duology and the second book comes out later this year. So why not read both of them together? So yeah, I’m just waiting for the sequel to come out and then I’m good to go πŸ™‚

What are some books that you bought but never ended up reading?

Have you read any of these books? If yes, how did you like them?

Do you wait for the entire series to come out before you read them or do you read the books as and when they come out?

  1. I truly try not to read books in a series until the whole series is out, but I forget that rule, like, kind of often. I also am not always clear when I start a book that it’s going to turn out to be part of a series, and I admit I am not cautious and often get suckered in. It’s a mistake! I always forget what happened in the first book by the time the second book comes out! Authors never do a “previously on” section, even though it would be VERY USEFUL.

    • Omg exactly! You can’t always no if ity part of a series or not.
Omg yes, it should be compulsory to include previously on sections! I’ve decided from now on to do a video recording of book one summaries after I read them and save them in my phone so I can go back to it when the next books come out.

  3. Oooo I remember seeing Mirage about a while ago and I think I wanted to read it? I don’t remember now haha but I also want to read Spin the Dawn, but now I know it’s part of a duology I’ll join you in waiting for the 2nd book to come out haha. I own so many books that I bought with the intention of reading them then I just…didn’t. Some of them I picked up then ended up putting down and a lot are books that I need to read to finish a series off xD

    • Hehe god bless our fickle memories. Yess, join me!!! Oof I feel you. I try to finish the books in a series one after the other because otherwise there is a good chance that I’ll never get to them πŸ™ˆ
