Everything I Binge-Watched In January

January has been an amazing month for me! Half of the time I was vacationing at home, glad to not be studying all the time and pulling my hair out of frustration. Just kidding.

The other half of January has been spent starting a new semester and just trying to breathe between classes and clubs. Which is why I didn’t watch a lot of stuff but every bit of it was A+ content!

EVERYTHING I BINGE-WATCHED IN JANUARY

SHOWS I WATCHED

1. Survivor S38 & 39

Let’s just say that I love reality shows, especially when it consists of tasks and obstacle courses. Originally I only watched Survivor for the tasks, I didn’t care about any of the contestant drama. But then one day I was bored out of my mind and I saw three episodes back to back and was able to get a grasp on the whole thing and ended up liking it. I went on my laptop and before I knew it, I had finished season 38 and moved on to 39. Season 38 was a whole lot better because I loved the edge of extinction and was more attached to the players. I felt like most of the players in season 39 were kinda meh?

Anyway, I’m definitely looking forward to watching season 40 whenever it’s out ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Sex Education S2

OH MY GOD. How did this show get even better?

I’m in absolute awe. Each new character was an absolute delight to get to know and every storyline explored was so precious! AND WE FINALLY GOT ASEXUAL REPRESENTATION? I honestly started crying. And I cried at several scenes because they were so heartwarming or well, heart-wrenching. Also, my precious Maeve deserves better. But all things aside, I wasn’t very happy with one aspect of Eric’s storyline that I won’t discuss here because of spoilers. If anyone wants to hold page-long discussions about season two, please do feel free to do so in the comments!

3. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina S3

I cannot even tell you how eagerly I was awaiting the third season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina! And it was absolutely amazing. I loved the individual storylines and the new characters as well. Seriously, how does this cast keep getting hotter? Okay but really, the actors were all flawless and I think I cried a couple of times, especially during the second last episode because shit went down. I really like how we finally got to see other witches and that there were hints of Greek mythology in the show. Me being a fan of all greek mythology, I ended up guessing some plot twists way ahead of time. I think my only complaint is that I really didn’t like the way it ended. I’m not giving any spoilers but let’s just say that Sabrina always gets everything that she wants. Everything. Nobody taught her to not be greedy. And thanks to that she causes a ruckus and new material for the next season. Every single time.ย

MOVIES I WATCHED

1. Before I Wake

My friend and I were looking for a nice thriller movie on Netflix and came across Before I Wake which seemed good enough. The blurb said that whenever this little boy fell asleep, his dreams and nightmares came true. We were intrigued and we thought this would be an interesting and harmless movie. God, we did not know that this was a horror movie. I hate horror movies. My problem is that I despise jumpscares. If a butterfly appears in front of me I’ll yelp and jump away so I’m not good with horror movies. And wow, this little boy has the scariest nightmares ever. I don’t remember having such nightmares at his age! I did end up loving the concept behind it but suffice it to say there were some screams from my room.

Have you seen any of these movies or shows?

If yes, what are your thoughts on them?

And what is your stance on horror movies? Do you love or hate them?

  1. I havenโ€™t watched any of these shows or movies but your description of sex education makes me want to watch it.. especially the reference to being asexual since I would relate to that a lot too..

I binge watched The Witcher last week and absolutely loved it! And I also laughed my guts out watching Vir Dadโ€™s For India on Netflix.. very well written stand up comedy after ages.

I love horror, gory and thriller. Thatโ€™s one of the things that bonded my husband with me. But I do have a vivid imagination so although I laugh while watching the movie or show, I have nightmares later lol!

  2. I loved Sex Education season 2 so much too!! It got really complicated and messy with some of the characters but I think this is one of my favourite teen shows ever and I am ready to discuss it with you.
Maeve does deserve better, I felt so sorry for her this season. She deserves to be happy. Her and Otis are so complicated, I can’t believe what he said tbh!!
I loved Jackson’s storyline this season though!! It was so good and complicated. I loved him and Viv!!
I think I know what you are unhappy with about Eric though?!!?

I haven’t watched the rest of what you’ve mentioned though. I have heard a lot of good things about Sabrina though so I might need to watch that!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. My stance on horror movies is that I am much too much of a chicken! I very occasionally read horror novels, as long as they never feature serial killers, but I watch almost zero horror movies. Even the promotional materials for the movie Us were too scary for me.

It’s great to hear that the second season of Sex Education has ace representation! One of the reasons I was nervous to start the show is that I was worried it wouldn’t be good on asexuality, so that’s very encouraging!

    • Oh really? That’s too bad, I know how that feels. I sometimes think that I’m missing out but then my imagination just intensifies the horror so nope.

Oh no, it’s absolutely wonderful ๐Ÿ˜
I hope you get to watch it soon!
