In Kyrkarta, magic—known as maz—was once a freely available natural resource. Then an earthquake released a magical plague, killing thousands and opening the door for a greedy corporation to make maz a commodity that’s tightly controlled—and, of course, outrageously expensive.
Which is why Diz and her three best friends run a highly lucrative, highly illegal maz siphoning gig on the side. Their next job is supposed to be their last heist ever.
But when their plan turns up a powerful new strain of maz that (literally) blows up in their faces, they’re driven to unravel a conspiracy at the very center of the spellplague—and possibly save the world.

COVER INSPIRED MAKEUP
I absolutely adore how shiny and sparkly this cover is! The secret to my heart is lots of glitter 😉 There’s also a slight blue to purple shading in the background which I really like. For this look, I did a blue eyeliner and purple lipstick and then basically went crazy with golden highlighter and glitter. In the book, there’s a special kind of magic called maz, and I personally like to think that in this look, the golden maz is flying everywhere.
Another reason for the heavy application was that the camera simply refused to catch the glitter, no matter how hard I tried! The highlights on the bridge of my nose can be seen more clearly but I actually highlighted my cheekbones too if you take a closer look. And of course, the glitter went really great with the purple lipstick too.
Fun fact: at the end of this photoshoot my face was completely covered in golden glitter. But it was absolutely worth it.
