While we’ve left 2019 behind and entered a new decade, today I’m going to be talking about and reviewing the shows and movies I watched in December 2019.
December was a bit stressful since I had my finals in the first week but after that, I’ve been on vacation 🙂 Unfortunately, my internet connection back at university was much more stringer than it is at home which has had some effect on my binge-watching habits. While I did download a season or two back at uni, I haven’t been able to watch most of the shows I wanted to because I knew my internet plan would not support that.
So while this time’s list may be a bit short, the contents sure do make up for it! I had a great time watching some pretty interesting stuff so let’s get on to it.
EVERYTHING I BINGE-WATCHED IN DECEMBER 2019
SHOWS I BINGED
1. SENSE 8 S1 & 2
I just watched one show this month but it was totally worth it. I absolutely loved the cast to bits, I loved the plot and the romances and oh my god don’t get me started on the diversity! There is a diverse caste in terms of colour, sexuality and class as well and it’s all beautiful. I love how no one person’s storyline was buried, every one of the 8 characters had such great character arcs. The plot is that there are 8 people who are connected together and can live each other’s lives. I mean if that doesn’t sound cool enough for you to watch it, I don’t know what to say.
MOVIES I BINGED
1. A CINDERELLA STORY: CHRISTMAS WISH
I’m a sucker for retellings especially when it comes to Cinderella stories but oh my god this one has Isabella Gomez too? That’s actually how it came under my radar, I absolutely adore Isabella Gomez and have this huge crush on her because she absolutely kills it as Elena on One Day At A Time. Coming back to the movie, it’s nothing expected because it’s a retelling. You know the plot, you have a pretty good idea of what’s going to happen. Nevertheless, it’s cute and filled with the holiday spirit which is what I was looking for in the first place 🙂
2. WILD CHILD
Apparently, I had seen this movie a long time back which is why I kept getting deja vu. But like the last time, I absolutely loved it and a huge reason why is that I finally got to see what english boarding schools look like. My childhood was filled with books like Malory Towers, Twins at Saint Clare’s and The Naughtiest Girl in the Class. So it really felt as if I was diving into the world of these books and I loved every minute of it.
3. HOUSE ARREST
I honestly don’t know what I expected of this film but I was disappointed. There wasn’t much plot here unless you call a one-day romance a plot. I don’t know what the film makers really aimed with this one but literally nothing happens except for the guy who never leaves his house falling in love and then getting ‘cured’ of his habit because of love. Gah, I hate when that happens.
3. HOME ALONE
Hands down, this is the best Christmas movie to exist, I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve watched it. Home Alone has been a huge part of my childhood and when I saw it playing on tv, of course, I was glued to my bed! If you haven’t seen Home Alone you’re seriously missing out.
4. THE GRINCH
I haven’t really seen any of the classic English movies, let alone the Christmas classics. When I realised that The Grinch was going to be on the television I decided to watch it because why not. And it’s cute and sweet and filled with Christmas spirit, although I would have appreciated it a bit more when I was a kid 🙂
5. THE HUNGER GAMES
I made my best-friends watch this movie and oh my god it is still as brilliant as I remembered it to be and I still cry at a certain little someone’s death. Every single time. This movie is a freaking masterpiece and I love how closely it follows the book!
6: THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE
And then we watched the sequel. I love how the Hunger Games series had the opposite of middle book syndrome, I feel that Catching Fire was my favourite book and movie, out of all the others. I loved the concept they followed in the game and the amazing new characters like Johanna and Finnick Odair. This whole series is absolutely wonderful and everyone needs to watch it.
Have you seen any of the movies or shows in my list?
If not, are they on your watchlist?
Recommend me any movies or shows based on what you think I like 🙂
