Guess who’s back with a fun tag today!
Some of you might be aware of the fact that I like the Shadowhunters show while others who know me better are aware that I love Shadowhunters with every fibre of my being and am ready to slay the whole world to get a season 4 of this show. Which I cannot since it got cancelled but don’t get me started on that or I’ll cry you a river.
On a side note, I have a complicated series of opinions with regards to the book series and some characters of the show that probably a handful of people know about and I’ll probably talk about it extensively but today is not that day.
Today I’m doing the Shadowhunters Family Book Tag for which my awesome friend Sahi @My World Of Books tagged me, thank you so much for this tag Sahi! And without wasting any time, let’s get to it.
- Copy and paste these rules.
- Choose a rune and explain your choice before moving on to the rest of the tag.
- Tag whomever you want.
- Link back to Stephanie’s original post.
- Link back to this post so I can see your answers! I love reading them!
RUNE OF CHOICE
One of my favourite runes has to be the Deflect or Block rune because it is prominently featured on Alec Lightwood, one of my favourite characters in the whole universe 🙂 There may also have been some very suggestive Malec fanfic that feature that rune so I’m partial to it, hehe.
SHADOWHUNTERS FAMILY BOOK TAG
Quod in te est, prome
“Bring forth what is in you”
A BOOK WHERE THE HERO REALISES THEIR OWN STRENGTH
There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
I love how Sweetie slowly develops her confidence throughout the book and learns to stand up for herself, especially against her mother. She realises that she’s string enough to make others listen to her and make them see the world through her eyes.
Nee spe, nec metu
“Without hope or fear”
A BOOK WHERE NOTHING SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO WORK OUT
The Love and Lies Of Rukhsana Ali by Sabina Khan
I’ll be honest, poor Rukhsana’s life was in a mess and I had no idea whether her ending would even be happy and all her plans never seemed to work out so I was on an edge throughout. But in the end everything ended relatively well and we did get the sweet happy ending Rukhsana deserved, though not without some sacrifices…
Quis contra nos?
“Who is against us?”
A BOOK WITH THE BEST VILLAIN
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (series)
It’s been a very long time since I first read this series but to this date whenever someone asks me for the best villain, Aaron Warner’s name pops up in my mind. I don’t want to give any spoilers but wow Tahereh Mafi did a wonderful job on him and it feels like she poured her heart and soul into this character.
Lex malla lex nulla
“A bad law is no law”
A BOOK WITH THE BEST REBELLION
Internment by Samira Ahmed
Internment talks about the power of hope and standing up for the things you believe in, even when the whole world seems to be against you. The rebellion was building up throughout the book and it came up in waves and totally left me amazed. This is such a powerful and moving book- I love every bit of it.
“Victory is the boundary”
THE BOOK WITH THE BEST BATTLE SCENES
Empress Of All Seasons by Emiko Jean
This is absolutely one of my favourite fantasy books out there and has the most amazing and fast-paced fighting scenes that give you just enough details and make the fights realistic. There are tons of small battles taking place in this book and it only makes the story more special.
Ingenium superat vires
“Genius overcomes strength”
A BOOK WHERE THE CHARACTER RELIES ON THEIR BRAIN
Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed
This book is about a brave girl named Amal who literally has nothing except her sharp brain and a kind heart using which she tackles every obstacle put in her way and wins our hearts. Amal really has to be the cleverest kid I’ve ever read about!
“Though struck I am raised”
A BOOK THAT EMOTIONALLY MESSED WITH YOU
Descendant Of The Crane by Joan He
Without any hesitation I’m just going to choose Descendant Of The Crane. I am STILL not over this book and I am never ever going to be.
“When pressed down, it raises itself again”
A SERIES WHERE THE SEQUEL WAS BETTER
The Son Of Neptune by Rick Riordan
This was a very hard question but I ended up going with the second book in Heroes Of Olympus series, The Son of Neptune because when compared to The Lost Hero it just had a better ensemble? I mean we finally get Percy back and then there are sweet Hazel and Frank and a badass Reyna and a whole new and exciting setting!
And that was it! I had so much fun with this tag but now I feel an urge to go rewatch Shadowhunters… Whoops?
