Currently Reading Tag

Hello!

I know it’s been a while since you were blessed with a tag post on my blog so, me being the generous person I am, I decided that it’s about time. Also, um, I have a huge backlash of tags. And I don’t mean huge in the normal sense. Huge in the sense that I could do tags for a year on this blog and still not run out… So yeah.

Today we have a short and sweet tag on the blog for which I was tagged by my wonderful friend Tanvi @A Reader To Whatever End who by the way is a pro at book tags so go check out her pretty little blog. Thank you so much for tagging me Tanvi 🙂

1. How many books do you usually read at once?

I like to go wild and read as many books as I can at the same time. I’ve never gone over 5 books at a time but it’s usually 2-3 books at a time. I love to have books of different genres among these so that if one book gets too heavy I can shift onto the next one for a while. The downside of this can be that sometimes I end up completely ignoring a book and keep reading other books.

2. How do you decide to switch between multiple reads?

Like I just said above, I switch between different genres. Also sometimes I’ll try to read the same amount for all the books I’m reading. For example, if I’m reading two books at a time and get in 200 pages on one but only a 100 on the other I’ll drop everything and try to get to 200 pages on both books because I don’t want any of the books to feel left out…

3. Do you ever switch bookmarks partway through a book?

Maybe sometimes? If I feel that the bookmark is sticking too much out or just doesn’t match the vibe of the book I might swap it out. And well this one time I accidentally had 3 bookmarks in one book so I kept switching them around.

4. Where do you keep the book(s) you’re currently reading?

When reading e-books they’re just lying there in my e-reading app but when it comes to physical copies my books take the entire tour of the house and wherever the hell I go. I tend to take the book with me everywhere so it could legit be in any corner of the house. If I’m reading multiple physical copies they’ll rarely be found together, probably in opposite corners of the house.

5. What time of the day do you read the most?

Okay, I had to think really hard for this one. My reading is pretty scattered and while most people tend to read more at night I’m the opposite. During school days I read between periods and in free periods plus in the evening when I come back home. But now that I’m enjoying my holidays I tend to either stick to evenings or start a book in the morning and just stay glued to it until I’m finished.

6. How long do you typically read in one session?

It varies a lot, mostly depending on how much time I have, how many times I get interrupted and whether the book is gripping or not. These days I would say I’ve been reading an average of an hour in a single sitting.

7. Do you read hardbacks with the dust jackets off?

Hell yes! I absolutely refuse to deal with annoying dust jackets, they go off the moment I pick up the book. They can just so easily get torn or bent and keep sliding off when you’re reading -_-

8. What position do you mainly use to read?

I can never get the perfect comfortable position but usually, I read lying on the bed on my side and just keep shifting on my sides. It’s a full workout for both my arms.

9. Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?

Yup, almost everywhere. I mean I would love to take it to stupid weddings and parties I’m forced to attend but I’m pretty sure my parents would have my head for that.

10. How often do you update your Goodreads reading progress?

I have a horrible memory and I’m too lazy to update my Goodreads especially when I’m engrossed in a book. I usually just add a book to my ‘currently reading’ shelf and then update it when I’m finished but sometimes I forget to even do that and end up adding the book when I’ve finished it and moved on to the next book…

I’m going to tag:

Simant @Flipping Thru Pages

Clo @Cuppa Clo

Sam @Fictionally Sam

Sahi @My World Of Books

So, which book are you currently reading?

If you read more than one book at a time do you keep them in different genres or formats?

Do any of my book reading habits match with yours or am I just a weirdo?

  1. Aaaah thanks for tagging me! I feel you on the whole backlog of tags, I think I could also easily just run the blog with only book tags as the main content haha. I once was juggling 11 books…past Clo had skills now I’m not that good at juggling multiple books at once. Mostly as I like to read books in one sitting haha. Ugh bringing books with us to social events would be the best thing ever, I wanted to bring a book with me to my prom but my parents and friends would’ve had my head for doing that. I feel like even if I don’t read the book though, it’s like a safety net, a security blanket that it’s there waiting to save and protect me if I need it. Though I think that’s something only readers understand hehe 🙂

    • *sighs*
      How does the even happen?
Ooh wow! Past me used to stick to a single book but current me is a pro juggler 🙂
Omg yes, I get the safety net thing! I swear most of the times I go to parties I just end up reading fanfiction on my phone 😂

  2. This was such a fun tag, Charvi!! I also typically read 2-3 books at once, usually one via audiobook and one physical or e-book. I think it’s crazy that you read with your dust jacket off because I usually keep them on and use it as a bookmark too ❤

    • Omg you can use them as bookmarks? They always keep slipping and getting torn or crumpled which I hate, so I usually leave them somewhere. I’ve actually lost a couple of dust jackets like that but they always turn up sooner or later 😊

  3. How can you “accidently” have three bookmark in the same book? hahah also man, reading up to 5 books at the same time is kinda neat! I never could go beyond three in High School, ithink .. and now I can’t actually read more than one.

I don’t have much hardcovers.. but when I was reading Eliza & Her monsters I did try to not take it off.. but omg that thing really is annoying! xd can’t even hold the book properly.

    • I have no idea 😂
Yeah sometimes it does get a bit hectic but I just like it that way. Omg ikr?! It just keeps slipping plus it’s so fragile! I don’t want anything to happen to it…
