When it comes to watching movies and TV shows I probably have’t seen anything you’re talking about. Partly because I prefer spending my time reading books off my unending TBR and partly because if I do start a show I know that I’ll be fully invested and binge-watch the hell out of it to the point it disrupts my normal routine.
And that is something I’ve been avoiding all of my school years. Or most. But now that I’m finally out of high-school and uni hasn’t started yet I do have tons of free time in my hands, a part of which I’ve invested in binge-watching. So here I am on the blog to talk about every show and movie that I saw in the month of June and maybe find more people to fangirl with. I’m hoping this will turn out to be a monthly feature on this blog but no promises.
SHOWS I BINGED
1. ONE DAY AT A TIME S2 & S3
This show had been on my to watch list since way too long and I watched the first season at the end of May and was completely enamoured. I love this messy little Cuban family who cracks up jokes but also discusses so many important topics and most of all has super supportive characters. I was kind of sad while watching season 2 and 3 because the show was cancelled but guess what? ONE DAY AT A TIME IS BACK FOR S4 AND I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!!
2. THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY
Oh my god, I am absolutely obsessed with this show! I’ve been stalking the actors, read wild theories, laughed over thousands of memes, watched edits and interviews – you name it, I’ve done it. I even made fan art, you all I loved this concept and the characters so freaking much!! Klaus and Five are my favourites, don’t you dare try and hurt a single hair on their arm! Also don’t go back to read the comics, they are so much worse than the show…
3. RUSSIAN DOLL
I still haven’t decided whether I like this show or not. I mean the idea behind the show is absolutely amazing but repetitive. If you’re trying to sell something that is repetitive you need to add other elements which keeps your viewers hooked. I was watching this out of boredom for the first two or three episodes, hoping things get a little more interesting and they did, as soon as they introduced the second main character! And wow the ending was beautiful too. It’s just that I expected a lot more out of this concept maybe? It’s a good show, and easy to binge but I’ve already forgotten 90% of it so…. yeah. Season 2 just got announced and I am kind of struggling to see what S2 could be about? I’m curious, I won’t lie but time and trailers shall tell whether I’ll watch the next season.
4. MALIBU RESCUE: THE SERIES
I was in the mood for something light and since I kinda like the Malibu movie I thought why not watch the series. And it was nice actually. The perfect thing I was looking for at that time. You know the kind of shows that have a light feel but not much of a plot and you tend to forget the details pretty soon but when you’re watching it you just feel good? Yeah it’s that kind of a show 🙂
MOVIES I BINGED
I know that it’s a crime that I still haven’t watched half of these freaking amazing disney movies but I wasn’t raised on them like almost all of you were. I was raised on books and Sherelock Holmes and Harry Potter movies that my mother used to binge-watch. Yeah I saw them before I could even understand what was going on. Anyway, Moana has been on my list for way to long, especially since I’m in love with the song ‘How Far I’ll Go’. And this movie was everything I wanted, my heart was squealing all along.
2. MURDER MYSTERY
Adam Sandler and Jenifer Aniston? UH HELL YES! I was literally there to watch this movie the very hour it released and while it wasn’t as much of the murder mystery vibes I had anticipated it completely redeemed itself by how hilarious and fun to watch it was! Let’s face it, these two comedians are never going to disappoint me 🙂
3. ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE
Oh wow am I even Asian if I haven’t seen this? Literally everyone I knew was talking about it, including me lol. I really loved the cute storyline and the different opinions that the characters had. Honestly I totally sided with the guy in that one scene where they went to that weird posh restaurant with Keanu Reeves and were served insane dishes. I was laughing so hard, that is literally the future go to place for all rich people! All in all, a great movie.
4. ADAM DEVINE: BEST TIME OF OUR LIVES
You all, it’s a crime that Adam Devine isn’t as recognised and appreciated as he should be. He is absolutely hilarious! Hands down, one of my favourite comedians. I’ve seen about all of his content and I just want MORE. Imagine my excitement when he announced his netflix special! I was waiting for a month and just kept refreshing my netflix constantly. And I loved it, of course! Adam Devine has all of my heart.
5. BACK TO THE FUTURE
I was honestly so tired of not understanding anything when every movie and show kept referencing this show, it was about time. And I love time travel. Huge sucker for it. Give me a book about time travel and I’ll scream my head off. And wheee this was a really good movie! Loved the insane scientist and wow the movie was lowkey bordering on incest but they saved themselves in time. Can’t wait to watch the sequel too!
I don’t often watch horror movies but this one was so hyped and scared the hell out of some people so I was like yeah I’ll watch it. Wasn’t that scary but more like creep and I really liked the plot and the actors as well.
7. HORRIBLE BOSSES
Uh this was a kind of strange movie? Some parts were outright hilarious(not in the good way) and others were monotonous or plain weird. I don’t know, this movie just didn’t sit well with me. Too wild maybe?
8. GOOSEBUMPS 2
I almost shrieked when I accidentally stumbled upon his on Amazon Prime. You all, Goosebumps was a goo chunk of my childhood and honestly Slappy is the best and creepiest villain you could sell. The first Goosebumps movie was good but this was even better, especially in terms of the plot! Also there was more of Slappy so I was happy.
Did you see what I did there? Also OMG that cliffhanger-sh ending! They better make a Goosebumps 3 and pick up right where they left!
And with that this post finally comes to an end! For me at least that was a good number of shows and movies that I watch and I have almost as many movies and shows on my July watchlist too. I haven’t made much progress though because I acidenally used most of my data to re-watch the first two seasons of ODAAT. I can’t help myself, I’m obsessed.
