You ever think of going on a nice and long summer vacation to just relax and bask in the sun but then you remember that you have zero friends whom you would like to go on a vacation with? Well I’m here to ask, what if you could take your fictional friends on a nice little bookcation with you?
Today on the blog I have my third and sadly last post for Bookending Summer. It has a vague theme of Ocean, Beach, Vacations, Contemporaries (you know…Summer) and aims to bring the book blogging community together and is hosted by two of my friends Clo and Sam.
There’s still time to check it out if you are interested to join in 🙂
TODAY’S PROMPT
BOOKCATION
You’re off to the beach for a nice time and you can take 10 other fictional characters with you. Whom would you choose and why?
SUMMER BOOKCATION WITH MY FICTIONAL FRIENDS
1. Magnus Bane from the Shadowhunters Chronicles
How can I not include Magnus? Any place with him would be extra fun and magical. I’m sure he’ll be able to whip up the best beach party of the century within minutes and he can also portal me safely home in case things get a little out of hand.
2. Nico di Angelo from the Percy Jackson series
I mean I could have chosen Percy but nah I’ll let him be with Annabeth. I’ve been a Nico fangirl since forever, I just want to wrap him in my arms, stuff him with food and tell him to have a nice time. Nico deserves the whole goddamn world and ain’t nobody gonna change my mind about it!
3. Simon Spier from Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda
How can I miss the chance to take our smol Spier boy! He’s gonna make wonderful deep friend oreos for everyone and just be his adorable, geeky and friendly little self. Also I really want to see drunk Simon on karaoke. I hope his music choices don’t clash with Magnus’ though…
4. Twinkle Mehra from From Twinkle, With Love
We need a fierce and wonderful film-maker on board who’s gonna record every bit of our little bookcation and keep everyone on their toes! Plus I feel like Twinkle is the kind of girl who can gel in with almost everyone so she would definitely be a fun person at the beach party.
5. Alex Rider from the Alex Rider series
I’m going to be kidnapping Alex so that he can just breathe and not get killed for one second in his life and have fun at the beach with people of his age and intellectual level. I mean I believe he and Nico would get along quite well, no? Let’s hope they don’t start comparing traumatic pasts though…
6. Kitty Song Covey from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy
Kitty is such a lively and fun character, I feel like she would have an amazing time making new friends and pulling pranks on everyone. But like nobody can get mad at her because she is such a cutie. I hope she doesn’t try any matchmaking though because everyone at this party is taken, especially my gay and bi boys.
7. Rue from The Hunger Games
I’m going to be the protective mama hen here, no harm’s going to come to Rue as long as I’m alive! She’s just going to be skipping around and looking at everything in wonder while we all feed this skinny little girl. And I’ll be damned if Magnus doesn’t use his magic to protect her.
8. Sorina from Daughter Of The Burning City
The best part about having Sorina at the party means that she’ll be bringing with her the family of illusions she created which means this party just hit the roof! I’m just super psyched because the illusions are real in every way and are very different form normal humans, it’s going to be really interesting to see how they interact with everyone.
9. James Carstairs from The Infernal Devices
We definitely need this charming and sweet gentleman with us, and ahem he was my first fictional crush so I might scream till my throat dries up but yeah. Magnus will be happy to see him(they’re old friends) and I think Jem will have a wonderful time with little Rue and Sorina’s illusions.
10. Newt from The Maze Runner series
And lastly I want this sarcastic and eye-rolling boy at my bookcation. We’re going to show him a great time and make him forget about the horrible things he had to endure okay? Nobody say a word, partly because of spoilers and partly since I refuse to let you pop my little fantasy bubble. Buh-bye.
This would be such an interesting vacation! Lol. I feel like there’d be tons of good food, so there’s that.

Aaaah Newt my precious boy deserved better *sobs hysterically* having said that I didn’t actually finish reading the maze runner books, I stopped a little way into Scorch Trials. But I have seen the movies and mah heart! Yasssss Jem precious, my love I adore Jem so so so much he’s got such a gentle and soft soul. Twinkle would have a time recording the beach party you made so many awesome choices Charvi, and thank you so so so much for hosting ❤ You've been wonderful!

*sobs hysterically with you*
The movies made it more brutal! At least in the books we knew there was no cure but in the movie the cure was like SECONDS AWAY. My heart was crushed 😭 Oof I need a Jem in my life. Thanks, Clo 😘 I loved hosting so much! Can’t wait to see what posts others have in line 😄

This sounds like a great vacation with amazing people!! I have only watched the movie for All The Boys but Kitty was great and you are right so fun and lively which is so nice!!
And yes bring Newt and give him all the hugs!! He is great!! I’m in denial too!!
I have no idea who I would bring– maybe Genya and David from the Grisha Trilogy as I love them so much!! 💛

Oh yes they had a pretty accurate portrayal of Kitty in the movie. Yesss we’ll all be in denial together! Ah I haven’t read the Grisha trilogy yet but I have ordered the books so I’ll get there soon 😁

I would need to add either Jo March, Belle, or Hermione just to make sure I had someone who was willing to sit and do nothing except read on the beach.
