Behind the Screen: A Book Blogger Tag

I am freaking months late with this tag but I just needed a light and fun post to write today, something just like this very tag so here we are!

So a long time back the lovely Krisha @Bookathon tagged me for this behind the screen tag and I’m so grateful, thank you so much for tagging me, Krisha. You all should go check out her wonderful blog!

Now let’s get onto the tag itself.

WHEN DID YOU START BLOGGING AND WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST REVIEW?

So there is a slightly complicated history behind the beginning of my blog?

I started blogging in the December of 2017 and I remember being excited and doing a ton of research and finally setting up the blog on Blogspot. But I quickly realised I should have put more research on which site to host. While the views I got on my first few posts were good there were next to no comments and to my horror, people were unable to subscribe to it. Yeah, that was a mess. So after some contemplation I shifted over to WordPress in January of 2018. So the exact date is unknown since I backdated some posts but it would be around the 16th of January(my blogoversary is going to be a complete surprise to me)

My first review post was No Time for Goodbye by Linwood Barclay – a book that I absolutely love till date. Infact I very recently hauled some books by the same author because the plot twists he wrote had me dead.

WHO/WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING?

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. I never even knew that book blogging was a thing until I stumbled upon Cait @Paperfury‘s gorgeous blog and had to pluck my eyes out because it’s so gorgeous.

She is the main inspiration behind this blog πŸ™‚

WHAT IS A BLOG RELATED GOAL YOU HAVE?

I have so many goals! But almost none of them are time-bound?

Earlier I had aimed to get 500 subscribers to my blog by the end of this year but that seems slightly unlikely since I am so busy these days and don’t get to interact much with other bloggers and the fact that I’ll probably take a break in December cause exams. So for now I’m hoping to get 300 subscribers by the end of this year(fingers crossed).

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH SOMEONE TOLD YOU ABOUT BLOGGING?

Again, SO MUCH STUFF!

But mainly that I would have to come out of my hive and spread out on different social media platforms and actually interact with people to see my blog grow and flourish. That’s why my blog may seem to be a little behind despite the fact that I’ve been blogging since a year because for like 6 months I was limited to Twitter, talking to a select few bloggers. Sometimes I feel sad, wishing I had opened up earlier but no worries. I have many more years to come and I’m still pretty happy with my blog’s growth πŸ™‚

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST BLOG RELATED ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Umm… I know big people?

Hehe let me rephrase that. When I entered the community I was blown away by some big and accomplished and super nice blogs like woah who are these superior people? Let me just wave frantically in their comments and maybe they’ll notice me? But now I’m actually friends with them? WHAAAAAAT?

(I’m talking about Shruti, Simant and Evelina)

WHAT TYPE OF POSTS DO YOU ENJOY WRITING?

Listicles are my absolute favourite! They’re so much fun and comparatively easier to write plus I’m a huge sucker for lists and organising stuff hehe. Also the fun posts which don’t really come under a category? Like Stages of Becoming a Fangirl/Fanboy

Those just bring out my inner fangirl πŸ˜›

WHERE DO YOU USUALLY BLOG? WHAT IS YOUR SET UP LIKE?

Umm I have no particular setup. I blog whenever and wherever possible although usually it’s on my laptop while snuggled in my bed.

WHAT WAS YOUR LAST FIVE STAR READ?

My last five star read was Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig and oh my god this book completely blew me away! By far the best non-fiction book I have ever read. I have so many freaking emotions about this one(mainly wanting to hug it forever and while on my deathbed) so you better go read my review(more like me flailing) of it here.

WHAT WAS YOUR LAST ONE STAR READ?

I don’t remember giving a one star rating to a book in a very long time(if ever) but my last two star read was Where She Went by Gayle Forman. This was such a huge disappointment especially when I had loved the first book, If I Stay. This was straight up crappy and can be summed up in a line: we broke up and I’m now devastated so let’s just get back together. Literally. I didn’t even bother to go read the third book.

WHAT ARE THREE WORDS THAT MAKE YOU PICK UP A BOOK?

Magic, dragons, gay.

That is all it takes.

WHAT IS YOUR HOGWARTS HOUSE?

Hufflepuff and Gryffindor! So like Gryffinpuff?

I personally like to identify as Hufflepuff because they’re warm and friendly and soft and also me, brave? Pfffffft. But it really annoys me how everything related to Hufflepuff is yellow cause I hate yellow -_-

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE READING ENVIRONMENT?

My bed!!! My bed is where I spend 90% of my life and if you try to remove me from it I will hiss and bite. You better not.

hisss

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW BLOGGERS?

The advice that I wasn’t given: GO AND INTERACT AND MAKE FRIENDS AND STALK PEOPLE IF YOU NEED TO!! JUST INTERACT!!

Okay, maybe just lowkey stalk like don’t go crazy.

Just talk to people okay? Engage. Smile. Chat. And have fun! πŸ™‚

And that’s it!

At this point I’m not sure who all I’ve tagged multiple times and may have annoyed so anyone who wants to do this tag can consider themselves tagged πŸ™‚

How was or is your first year of blogging? Have you ever had a sudden boom in your stats or is it just crawling slowly like a snail? Have you ever had to shift your blog? If so then why and how did it go?

  1. AAWWWWWWWW you beautiful creature you’re bringing me to tears T_T thank you! That’s the sweetest thing to say! I never thought of myself as a cool blogger either, to me, I’m the loser who can barely get over 600 follows in two years when everyone is at a thousand xDDD haha omg thank you, that’s the nicest thing to say ever ❀ and I really value your friendship, you're always so awesome to tag me on stuff on Twitter and just always make me feel like I'm being remembered, and it's such a good feeling. I sometimes feel bad that I'm so absent and can't reciprocate much! But hey, here I am during my woooorssssst day ever, with a headache and stomach cramps, and I really would rather go to bed, but I wanted to check out your post before I go cause I noticed a pingback! So if that doesn't prove my loyalty, nothing will :DDDDD thank you so much for always being so nice and friendly, and for just BEING THERE πŸ™‚ it means a lot.

And I would visit more often if I could! But currently I'm struggling to even write ONE post per week xD ah, work and headaches and whatnot. Your blog is great though! We should have a whole 'nother day in the week purely for blogging πŸ˜€

Ooh, I want to read Notes on a Nervous Planet!

And it's cool that we've got Hufflepuff in common πŸ˜€ I'm Hufflepuff, or maybe Huffleclaw or something like that πŸ˜€ (ALSO. HATE YELLOW. FIERCELY. So I can relate so much :D)

    • You’re the coolest blogger!!!!
You should probably measure your progress in the number of bloggers you’ve helped that would probably account to Γ—100000000 ❀️

Ahh thank you so much 😘 So happy that you read this right before going to bed! Hope it made your day better ❀️

I know, you’re so busy and don’t worry, I totally get it cause same 😌 Hehe yes we definitely need a separate day dedicated entirely to blogging!

YAAAY HUFFLEPUFF FTW! yYESS WE SHALL HATE ON YELLOW TOGETHER. That one time my sister made me wear yellow I looked like a ghost and I have pictures as freaking proof πŸ˜‚

  2. If by big, you mean plus-size, then yes, I’m definitely big. But also, Evelina and Sim are so puny, so I don’t think that’s what you meant?

Your comment made my day. You know I love you, I know you like me, and yet, every time you say it, it makes me happy! ❀ (Erm, why do I sound like a crappy romcom hero?)

Seriously though, you're the best. I love how talented you are and I'd have been stupid to ignore you! Please, please never stop writing, blogging, sketching, and slaying! ❀ ❀

  4. Ha, but aren’t blogoversaries ALWAYS a surprise? And oh yeah… 2017 was a bad year for some reason – after I got my domain I couldn’t get subscriptions to work for a long time and it was just… weird.

And same with the tip! I never opened up earlier either… which is why I seem behind despite starting in 2012, haha (and I guess I grow at a snail’s pace, which is okay). I think it was because I was shy and scared of speaking to other bloggers at a young age… and as I got older, it became easier to interact with bloggers in the community. You might have missed out some of the growth earlier but they’ll come later on to see your awesome self! πŸ˜‰

I didn’t HAVE to move my blog over to WordPress though… Blogger was fine, but I’m actually happier on WordPress (self-hosted, not free – I hate that so much) even if I did it for a class in the first place. I’m still trying to reformat my posts though… horrible experience and tiring.

    • Hehe mostly yes but some intelligent people keep track of when they started their blog from the beginning πŸ˜›

Yeah…maybe it’s an age thing? The younger you are the more nervous you are to venture out online into the internet which your parents have convinced you is full of bloodthirsty demons 😝

Ah free is my only option! Ooh yes that can be so tiring! Good luck to you πŸ’Ÿ

  5. Okay, so you are just months late with this tag but I am so late in reading this post and replying to it? ALmost a month? I don’t know how I missed it 😦 Really sorry. Well, truth to be told, I am way behind in my commenting game.
And isn’t Cait the inspiration of hundreds? She is just amazing.
Well, it’s hard to get blog followers, for me it is at least. It’s been more than one and a half years I have only over 300 blog followers. But I don’t stress over it in any way. I am sure you would reach to a good number soon πŸ™‚

Aww, thank you so much for mentioning me. I don’t think I am big in any way. But thank you for thinking of me.
