July was pretty hectic!

My school reopened after the summer holidays and BOOM!

It started raining assignments and tests.

I swear I had so much planned for June but everything just… fell apart.

So, I’ve been posting very less, if you haven’t noticed. That’s thanks to a lot of pressure of my studies plus upcoming exams. Ugh exams. They suck the life out of everything.

But since I really need to concentrate on my studies I’ve decided that I’ll be going on a short hiatus.

I hate to do this, I’ve always told myself I won’t go off into oblivion and abandon my blog until and unless it’s due to academic reasons so here we are. This is the first hiatus of my blog, no achievement of course.

I’m not sure exactly when I’ll be disappear but probably mid-August and then I’ll be gone the whole of September. There are probably going to be times when I’ll want to come back because I love nothing more than procrastinating but I’ll just stock up on posts then and that way I’ll have tons of post when I make a comeback.

You’re going to get loads of new and original stuff when I’m back because I have tons of ideas write now but unfortunately no time to write them down ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

That said, I’ll try to post a bit until mid-August but I can’t really promise anything…

BUT I will be active on Twitter if you want to say hi and maybe IG too ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, okay, enough of moping around!

Let’s have a short look at how the month went by for me.

I read a good amount of 9 books, which I hadn’t really expected! This is all thank to the Indian Lit Readathon and Dewey’s 24hr readathon I guess.

I loved this book! It had a unique writing style and a very different and relatable plot. Plus, such a short read! Had great fun with it ๐Ÿ˜€

4/5 stars

So I DNFed this one. I know, some of you are screaming at me to go pick it up again but I read half of it and couldn’t really connect. This just isn’t for me. Maybe after a year or two?

Carry On was a re-read and of course I loved it! There are my precious gay boys, magic, humor and dragons too!!!

5/5 stars

I had really been looking forward to this book and oh my god it totally exceeded my expectations and made me squeal like anything! And it also added 50 more books to my TBR, who’s crying? I’m not crying.

5/5 stars

I read this one for Banned Book Club and oh my god it totally exceeded my expectations!!! I’m just still shook by this AMAZING book. REVIEW COMING ON MY BLOG VERY SOON!

5/5 stars

At first glance this book had seemed out of my genre but the blurb sounded really good and I picked it up. IT WAS A GREAT DECISION! A really wonderful and motivating book! Check out a detailed review here.

4/5 stars

This was an unexpected surprise! I was only reading this for compulsory school reading and I remember DNFing it the last 3 times but this turned out to be pretty nice ๐Ÿ™‚

4/5 stars

I really liked this one It had a fresh concept and had me crying several times because so many emotions(mainly grief)

4/5 stars

So much went wrong with this book ughh. Literally no plot and only blah blah blah. Literal summary: buy and girl from book 1 break up and the boy lives a shit life. They meet 3 years later, have sex and make up. THE END.

2/5 stars

Phew! All in all I think I had a really great reading month filled with good books ๐Ÿ™‚

I also got a really delicious smelling bookish candle based on Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda and I just cannot stop sniffing it! I also had a small book haul and got quite a few classics on sale along with How To Stop Time by Matt Haig which has been on my TBR since far too long!

I’ve also realised that it’s been way too long since I took a trip down to the library and I’ll definitely do that as soon as my exams are over.

But until then, this is a sort of goodbye, I guess…

How was your reading month? Does participating in readathons help you with your reading or not? Also, how do you deal with hiatuses? Let me know!

  1. Dayum, I’m sorry school’s eating into your blogging time. But it’s okay. We all can do with a short hiatus every now and then. Godspeed, my child! xD

And yesss, readathons do make me read more books! I signed up for Dewey’s but chickened out in the last minute because I wanted to binge-watch shows on Netflix instead. ๐Ÿ˜€
