Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag

You know what we booknerds love?

Freaking out.

The main characters always put themselves in danger, the books we lend come back damaged, our favourite characters always die, WE CANNOT READ ALL THE BOOKS IN THE WORLD –

SO MANY REASONS TO FREAK OUT!!!

So naturally there is a tag for this. What are we freaking out about now? Half the year has somehow passed thanks to whoever is using dark magic here and now we may or may not be behind our reading goal or might have forgotten to read those books within the first quarter of the year.

WHOOPS.

I’m sure a ton of people tagged me for this including Aimee and Simant and Saimon over at Instagram so here we go because apparently all the freak out stress is good for reading. (NOT.)

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ YET IN 2018

30653853.jpg32075671.jpg

There’s a tie between The Upside of Unrequited and The Hate U Give – two books I absolutely raved about this year! They are completely different books but both struck a chord with me thanks to their diversity and the important issues they talked about ๐Ÿ™‚ You definitely need to go read the right now!

BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2018

HANDS DOWN THIS GO TO ACOMAF!

I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this trilogy and the sequel was THE BEST BOOK EVER! We got to see so much into Rhysand’s character and got introduced to the Inner Circle WHO ARE LOVE. Fierce males and females who can kick your ass and be soft? YES PLEASE! Absolutely floored with this one.

NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO

36389267

A Thousand Perfect Notes has been on my TBR ever since Cait announced it like GIMME NOW!!! I’m waiting for my copy which is supposed to arrive at the end of this month in The Big Book Box with A SIGNED LETTER WHOOOOOOO I AM DEAD ALREADYYYYY.

Like yes this book is going to kill me x100 times thanks to the aesthetics, the quote plus I hear it destroys you so there’s that.

MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

36260157.jpg

MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE AUTHOR BECKY ALBERTALLI HAS WRITTEN ANOTHER BOOK IN COLLABORATION WITH ANOTHER GREAT AUTHOR THAT MAKES ME CRY WHY WOULD I NOT WANT THIS????

Plus I read an excerpt and OMG

Already dead there is just so much fluff!

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

35342833

I had such great expectations from this book but it totally failed on all aspects. The main character was so stupid I just couldn’t help but crib about every single thing she did. On top of that the plot was kind of predictable and the end was weird plus badly written. A total nope for me.

BIGGEST SURPRISE

33650153.jpg

Around this time I had given up expecting anything from review copies and I almost refused this one but I am so glad I picked it up! This was a completely fresh story with a mix of genres like historical fiction, paranormal and science fiction. The lead character was fierce, determined and so very interesting to read about! Would definitely recommend to everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR

DF451.jpg

I only recently discovered Annie Spence who wrote Dear Fahrenheit 451 and was absolutely amazed by it. Not only is the writing funny and relatableย  it gave me loads of more books to add on my TBR (okay, this is a bad thing)

But seriously, being a reader herself Annie gets us perfectly and writes all those perfect little letters so grab this book now!

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

15745753.jpg

I absolutely adore Park from Eleanor and Park! He is just so understanding, sympathetic, protective and just everything beautiful. I wanna curl up next to him and just protect him from all the bad stuff. And of course there is Rhysand from ACOTAR series but I’m trying not to repeat books ๐Ÿ˜›

NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER

30724132.jpg

Elle Wittimer from Geekerella was sweet, nerdy and totally up my lane. I saw so much of myself in her and she’s just an adorable character overall.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

This one without doubt goes to Gypsy Boy which is an autobiography of Mikey Walsh. It completely destroyed my soul and I ugly cried multiple times as I read about the narrator’s struggle. This was a random buy but I am so very glad fate made me pick up this eye-opening book.

FAVORITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION

LOVE, SIMON WITHOUT ANY FREAKING DOUBT

Just a pure and magical gay movie :’ )

I really loved writing this post and letting my thoughts flow free plus you guys gave a great response to it! If you haven’t read it go check it out here ๐Ÿ™‚

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

30754980.jpg

Big Mushy Happy Lump is the very first graphic or cartoon novel that I’ve bought and I thoroughly enjoyed each and every cartoon. So relatable and hilariously written down!

MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR

WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

Ughhh so many I can’t even count! Actually none comes to my mind? I’m a total mood reader so what I read always depends on my mood hence no specific TBR.

And we’re done!

I’m not really tagging anyone because I feel just about everyone has done this tag in the bookish community? But if you haven’t then feel free to go ahead and add this tag to your lists of blog posts to write ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you spy any books that you’ve read and loved? Any of these on your TBR? What all stuff do you freak out about? Are you like me and freak out about everything or you’re a really chill person?
